By contract, this section was supposed to be completed in May next year. The construction of a 41-kilometer priority section began on May 11th, 2015, which is when the four-year deadline for completion of the works commenced. The representative of the French-Italian consortium of the Ingerop Conseil & Ingenierie Geodata Engineering project Jovan Ivanovic announced on the ABS show at RTCG that, based on the plans and dynamics obtained from the CRBC, it is expected that the works on the priority section will be completed by the end of next year.
One of the reasons for the delay, as he said, could be an unrealistic deadline. He announced that the Moraca Bridge will be operational in late summer next year.
"Based on the dynamics we get from the contractor and I think realistic dynamics from the aspect of the execution of works, we expect this bridge to be finalized, that is, the span construction will be completed in August of next year," said Ivanovic.
At the end of May, the Ministry of Transportation said that CRBC's management announced that it would engage all available resources to complete the job within the agreed deadline. "We are aware that the extension of the timeframe for the realization of infrastructure projects is almost commonplace in projects of much lesser value, both in Montenegro and in the world, because primarily their capital value and importance is recognized, but the engagement of additional human resources and mechanization, according to CRBC's management, will strengthen the dynamics of work on the whole route," said the ministry.
On July 20th the Minister of Defense Osman Nurkovic said, in parliament, that the agreed deadline for completing the construction of the priority section could be extended.
