On the plot owned by the Metropolitan church, i.e. Kumbor's Church Board, on an area of two thousand square meters is still the camp "Šumadija", where 32 trailers reside mostly by owners from Serbia. At the end of last year, CO Kumbor informed them that they need to be moved. So far, a third of the houses have been decommissioned, and some of the owners have engaged lawyers from Bar, seeking the damage compensation of 50 years or an appropriate place to move their trailers from the camp.
One of them, prof. dr Dragan Uskokovic, addressed all responsible institutions in Montenegro, and also Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, to "appeal to the appropriate authorities in Montenegro to prevent the illegal demolition of houses in the camp".
"14 years ago, we were forced to sign contracts with SPC on financing and setting up houses, which were entered in the cadaster, for which they now say they are illegal. For these households we are paying property tax for 50 years, tourist tax and all other taxes payable by any real estate owner in Montenegro," Uskokovic says, and claims that "the Carine company now applies all repressive measures to make people move out as early as possible, without any remuneration or solution".
On the other hand, Popovic says they had a lot of understanding and that eviction dates were extended from January to the end of August.
"Everyone was informed about eviction deadlines timely, and most of them did so, and by the end of the week, several more homes will be removed. It is one man who does not want to leave and who abuses other homeowners. The fact is that they did not extend the contract, that the camp was illegal, and that we signed the agreement with the Metropolitan church," Popovic said, pointing out that preparatory works for the construction of a 200-room high-class hotel began on Monday, which should be operational next summer.
