23 August 2018 - The Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, recently met with the newly-appointed Ambassador of Austria to Montenegro, Anja Janković.
Vuković and Janković both expressed their confidence that the cooperation between the capitals Vienna and Podgorica will be intensified in the coming period, as there is plenty of room for its improvement in many areas of mutual interest, especially in tourism, economy, urban planning and environmental protection.
Mayor Vuković presented the focal activities and future directions of the development of Podgorica, stressing that cooperation with the capital of Austria will be especially important for achieving the development goals set by the new city administration. He pointed out that the city administration has the ambition to improve international cooperation because cooperation and exchange of experiences with the developed cities of Europe is very important for the further urban development of Podgorica.
The Mayor also highlighted that the city of Vienna should be one of the reliable partners and models in this aspect so that the city administration could use its experience and practices in the further development of Podgorica, especially in the area of spatial planning, the application of modern solutions to public transport and expert assistance when it comes to creating strategic documents for the development of Podgorica.
Ambassador Janković congratulated Mayor Vuković on his recent appointment as the Mayor of Podgorica and wished him a successful mandate.
She emphasized that Podgorica is developing in the spirit of modern European cities and that she hopes for an extremely successful cooperation and exchange of experiences between the capitals of Austria and Montenegro in the upcoming period. The Ambassador stressed that Podgorica can always count on Vienna as a partner and friendliness when it comes to all initiatives that contribute to strengthening ties and intensifying cooperation between the two cities.
She invited Mayor Vuković to be a guest at the ceremony that the Embassy of Austria organizes on September 20 in the Petrović Castle on the occasion of Austria’s recent assuming of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
