22 August 2018 - For the construction of a new bus station, at the location opposite the Šištet in Igalo, the urbanistic and technical conditions are issued, and this week, geo-mechanical research should begin. This research should show what could be built in the particular area. The complete project documentation should be completed by the end of the year.
The local administration's desire is to have a modern station with 12 platforms and accompanying facilities, the Director of the Agency for Construction and Development of Herceg Novi, Boro Lučić, said for Radio Jadran.
The research should last up to a month and a half and will represent the basis for the project development:
“When it comes to location and what UT conditions offer, it can be a great location. However, the building itself will not need more than 2,000 square meters, plus platforms and everything that is an integral part of each station. First, we will construct a building with everything that is needed, and then later it is possible to expand it with the buildings of a business and commercial character. What we are currently aiming for and where the Agency will participate is in the development of the bus station project,” said Lučić.
After the completion of geo-mechanical research, the conceptual solution will be made, and the main project will be done. The construction of the Bus Station should be financed by the local government, however, the value of the project will be known after the development of the project documentation.
As previously stated in the Information of the Local Parliament Agency in December last year, the advantage of this location is that it is located on the west side of the city and gravitates toward the border crossings with Croatia, as well as towards the branch of the future bypass and the fast track of the bus route that starts in Sutorina.
Also, this location provides the possibility of a private-public partnership in the construction and use of the Bus Station. The plot area also provides a parking space for buses, service space and wash centers, so the revenues would be increased in relation to the revenues that are normally expected from the standard bus station services.
The location of the bus station on Šištet has priority over the other locations considered since it does not require the introduction of additional lines of public transport, the arguments are for the destination of the new Bus Station in Igalo.
In the drafting of the Spatial Urban Plan of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the locations for the construction of the bus station at the Firefighting Center in Meljine, the location "Jabucnjak" in Meljine and the "Solila" location in Igalo were discussed, and the local public opinion was varied.
