July 26, 2018 - The first Info day dedicated to the Innovation Project Grants Contest, which the Ministry of Science allocated €1 million for co-financing the projects that strengthen the company's innovative potential and stimulate the application of innovative ideas and technology on the market, was held on the premises of the Chamber of Commerce.

As reported by the Ministry of Science, more than 60 representatives of the business community have taken the opportunity to get more detailed information on the terms of the competition, the application requirements and the evaluation process itself, which will be conducted by international experts. The contest is foreseen for co-financing in the amount of 100,000 euros, from 2018-2020. The Director of the Sector for the Project at the Chamber of Commerce, Tanja Radusinović, said that it is another excellent project that is being realized in cooperation with the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Science and that it is pleased that the Chamber intervenes in order to strengthen the competitiveness of Montenegrin companies, in particular in the field of innovative activity, which is the focus of the European Union's policy.

"One of the aims of the Competition is to strengthen human resources in research and innovation, to create new jobs, and to stimulate private companies to cooperate more closely with the scientific community," said the Head of Innovation and Infrastructure Directorate Marijeta Barjaktarović Lanzardi.

The Ministry states that companies have a need for ideas from the domestic scientific research community to be competitive on the global market, and this competition aims to stimulate innovation in the fields of energy, agriculture and food, sustainable development and tourism, information and communication technologies; medicine and human health as well as new materials, products and services.

"The contest encourages technological innovations and their development in accordance with the levels of technological readiness, i.e. from the development of technology in laboratory conditions to the determination of the first final product," said the Project Manager for Research at the Ministry of Science Saša Ivanovic. One of the aims of the Competition is, as pointed out, overcoming the lack of funding between research and commercialization, as well as increasing the number of patents that have the potential for the implementation in practice," the Ministry said in the statement.

Entries to the competition can be submitted by the scientific research institutes, institutions of higher education and entrepreneurs in Montenegro who are enrolled in the Register of Innovative Organizations at the Ministry of Science. The Ministry stresses the need for partnership with at least one legal entity from Montenegro under the conditions of the competition, and that the advantage during the evaluation will have which consist of young researchers and innovators up to 35 years of age and/or scientists or businessmen from the diaspora as well as teams who propose projects with the potential for future reporting within the international programs such as HORIZONT 2020. The next Info days about the competition will be held at the beginning of September.
