July 25, 2018 - Projections based on a previous analysis show that the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline (IAP), which goes through the territory of Montenegro, would cost 120 million euros, said the Ministry of Economy.

The IAP is one of the branches of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is a future part of Trans Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and is planned to transport gas from Azerbaijan via Turkey, Greece and Albania to Italy. At this point, it is too early to talk about ways and sources of funding, but Montenegro, as well as other Western Balkan countries, expects, as it has been so far, a significant support from the international financial institutions and the European Union, as it is a project of importance for all of Europe," said the Ministry of Economy. They say that the IAP will go through Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, and BiH, and the beginning of the realization of this project will depend on a number of factors on which Montenegro cannot make any influence.

"The preliminary design is ongoing which will last two years, after which, if the four states in which the IAP plans to pass would get the financial support by the international institutions, its construction could commence. Experience so far has shown that the realization of such a complex project cannot last less than three years," said the representatives of the ministry and added that they intensified the communication with the Albanian ministry in order to jointly approach the implementation of the IAP.

They reminded us that almost the whole area of Southeastern Europe does not have installations of gas.
