June 04, 2018 - According to the official statistics house of Montenegro, Monstat, in the first four months of 2018, almost 153.000 tourists stayed in collective accommodation in Montenegro, which is 20% more than in the same period of 2017. Those visitors made over 365.000 overnight stays, which is an increase of 13 percent. This positive trend continued in May, and according to the data from local tourism organizations, it indicated and recorded an increase of over 40% compared to May of the previous year.
This year’s tourist season also recorded significant growth in financial indicators, and according to the Central Bank of Montenegro, in the first quarter of 2018, an increase of 18.5% was recorded compared to the first quarter of 2017 which saw 30.7 million EUR.
The National parks of Montenegro were not an exception either, and they recorded a visit rate of about 30% more tourists compared to the same period last year. National Park “Skadar Lake” achieved a new record and officials recorded 70% increase in incoming tourists from last year. These national parks have an excellent visit rate mostly from Western Europe, and it is indeed interesting to point out that the number of guests coming from Asia and countries such as Japan and China is increasing.
Positive trends found their way in the Montenegro’s airports too, which resulted in 90.000 passengers more than in the previous year, while overall air traffic, as of June 1, increased by 13%.
All the indicators point that this will be one of the most successful tourist seasons in Montenegro. Various types of offers, improved connectivity of Montenegro with countries of Europe and the whole world, and good pricing policy in accommodation capacities are all in favor of the country.
Only some of the following manifestations and activities are already attracting a high number of visitors including “City Groove Festival”, “Dzada Film Fest”, “International Carnival” in Tivat and the long-awaited spectacle – the concert of famous musician, Goran Bregovic, which will take place at the Plantaze 13. jul vineyards on June 13th.
