May 25, 2018 - According to Montenegrin Prime Minister, Dusko Markovic, yes – Zabljak has the potential to be one of the largest construction sites in Montenegro. Zabljak is a town in Northern Montenegro, and it is located in the center of the Durmitor mountain. This town is the center of Montenegrin tourism because it features tourism attractions during all seasons. Skiing, rafting, mountaineering, and hiking are just some of what the area offers, and Durmitor mountain and its entire area are protected as a national park in Montenegro and listed as part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
After visiting the worksites and construction sites on the road section to Savin Kuk ski-resort, which is the highest peak in Montenegro, Prime Minister Dusko Markovic expressed satisfaction with the realization of this and other valuable projects for Zabljak. During his visit to Zabljak and the Savin Kuk ski-resort, he said that Zabljak is one of the largest construction sites in Montenegro where new jobs will be opened and which has a potential to create a new value for Montenegro.
“Today, I have the opportunity once again to make sure that capital infrastructural projects are being implemented in Žabljak, which aim to turn this undisputed Montenegrin resource, the resource of Žabljak, into a new value for both this region and the whole Montenegro. Right now, more than EUR 16 million is spent on a various capital infrastructure projects in Žabljak. We are now on a road section, which should provide better access to the Savin Kuk ski resort. It will be completed in two and a half months. We are continuing with works and the work on the new parking lot has already begun,” Markovic said while noting that in aside from this project, constructions are being prepared for the new worksite which will soon turn out to be a new ski-resort in Zabljak. This project is a five-star hotel with an estimated value of 25 million EUR.
“Therefore, Žabljak is today, and I believe in the next few years, one of the biggest construction sites in Montenegro. The people here will have new opportunities; we will open new jobs, we will create a new value for our country. I want to really praise the local self-government and the president of the Municipality, and his team, which together with the Government, intensively and on a daily basis, creates the preconditions for a new project and new investments. I am really happy with what I had the opportunity to see here today,” concluded Prime Minister Markovic in his speech for the public.
This construction site and project that stands behind it are valued around 320.000 EUR, and the whole operation is led by contractor Intermost from Podgorica.
