May 15, 2018 - The Montenegrin Prime Minister is closely monitoring the construction of Montenegrin highway. In his statement, he emphasized that he expects the first section of the road to be opened no later than the end of 2019.
The highway Bar-Boljare is the most critical infrastructure project in Montenegro, the only country on the Balkan peninsula that does not have a highway. Taking into consideration the geographic features of mountainous Montenegro, the construction of the highway will include 42 tunnels and 92 bridges and viaducts. The works on the construction of the first section of the highway officially started on May 11, 2015, and the representative of the contractor (CRBC company) announced that the completion of the first section would take four years.
The Prime Minister has organized a local conference with the inhabitants of the village Korita. During the conference, Mr. Marković pointed the main construction goals in regards to the whole Korita region: "The highway that will pass through the Korita plateau, as well as the valorization of Đalović Cave which extends here, will open the whole region and enable better opportunities for living in the countryside.“
The Korita village is a small region in the Bijelo Polje municipality. It is a village located very far from the city center. The Prime Minister took notice that this region has great potential for development. He has explained that the reconstructed local roads, water supply system and a new school, which are projects for the near future, will enable better living conditions in this area.
The inhabitants of the Korita village hosted the conference, but many locals from the villages nearby, such as Ličina, Sušica, Osmanbeg’s village, Đalovići-Dupljaci, Old village, Lautovići, and Negobratina also came to support the project. .Mr. Marković explained the plans for the construction of the first section of the highway to all guests: "The biggest construction venture in the history of Montenegro, the highway Bar-Boljare, where construction is currently in progress, will be completed within the stipulated deadline, and if there are unforeseen deviations, they will not significantly affect the fact that in 2019 we will have completed the first section of the highway"
