This was concluded at the meeting between the state secretary of the Ministry of sustainable development and tourism, Damir Davidovic, and non-residential ambassador of Mexico in Montenegro, Antonio Garcia Blanco.
The officials above exchanged opinions on possibilities for improvement of economic collaboration between the two countries, with a particular highlight on the tourism industry.
The ambassador Garcia Blanco expressed particular interest for the development of business collaboration in tourism and highlighted that nearly 19 million citizens of Mexico travel abroad every year; therefore a high number of them visit Europe, and some of the European metropoles are only one hour distant from Montenegro by plane.
He pointed out the significant breakthrough and achieved results which Mexico gained in the tourism industry in the last five years, where it has a stable position among the first ten world countries per the number of tourists with nearly 40 million foreign tourists in the previous year and a much higher number of domestic tourists.
He suggested that the Montenegrin touristic industry should be presented at the most important fair of tourism in the country where this year, representatives of 88 nations participated with almost 1000 exhibitors.
The state secretary presented the results which Montenegro achieved in this industry with a record in the previous year when Montenegro was visited by over two million tourists with 12 million overnight stays.
He pointed out the outstanding results which Montenegrin tourism achieved this year where the increase of tourists in the collective accommodation is nearly 27 percent higher in the first three months of this year compared to last.
He presented the most significant investment projects realized on the coast and the north of the country with a particular highlight on the activities for the improvement of the pre-season and post-season visits as well as the essential emissive markets.
