The Municipality of Pljevlja will buy the land and facilities of the Sumarsko company which has been bankrupt since August 2008, for 35.500 euro.

According to the decision approved yesterday by the Parliament, the Municipality will buy 1.700 square meters of residential-commercial objects in the villages of Meljak, Potkrajci, Bobovo, Kosanica and Poblace.

Besides the abandoned buildings, the Municipality will also buy 11.500 square meters of pasture and 7.640 square meters of third and fourth category forests.

The value of properties owned by the Sumarsko company in 2007 was estimated at more than 450.000 euro.

The sale of the company was advertised more than 12 times, and the last one was made on the 10th of May last year for a starting price of 47.000 euro.

One of the former workers, Dragan Lazarevic, invited the delegates not to vote for the approval of the decision because, as he says, the management in bankruptcy has been working illegally and against the workers’ benefits.

The local management said that the Sumarsko company submitted mayor Mirko Djacic the decision that the sale of the property is one of the terms to determine the bankruptcy. Djacic estimated that the sale of the property is in the public interest of the Municipality because, according to the strategic plans, the development of tourism is one of the most significant directions for growth.

The Municipality is planning to transfer the management and usage of the property to the tourism organization which will put all the facilities in function with the financial help from the Municipality.
