The “Zekovic company” from Zabljak started with the demolition of the hotel “Durmitor”, which after several attempts to sell over five years became the property of Adriatic properties.
“We concluded a contract for the hotel demolition. The deadline is 30 to 45 days to remove the hotel from the roof to the foundations. When my company was engaged in this job, we agreed to especially separate the semicircle on the ground section so that during the construction, it will be in the same position to preserve authenticity. The memorial plate at the hotel’s façade will also be preserved and put up again when the new hotel is built”, said the director of “Zekovic company” Lazar Zekovic.

“It is enough to enter the hotel inside and see its horrible state and that any kind of adaptation and reconstruction are impossible. The wooden structure is completely rotten. Walking inside is very risky, and we pay attention to every move. There is a lot of work; therefore, I have to contact the locals if they are in the mood to help to achieve completion in the agreed deadline. To finish this job before the commencement of the tourist season I will ask for help in labor from other companies from Zabljak”, said Zekovic.
The hotel “Durmitor“ was built just before the commencement of the Second World War. During the war, at one period, it was a hospital for Partisans. It was set on fire by enemies and re-built after the liberation. This is witnessed by the memorial plate installed after the war on its wall. Its unique design was seen on all meridians throughout postcards or photos.

The Greek businessman Petros Statis bought this hotel last year for 650.000 euro which is ten times less than the starting price when its sale was announced for the first time. With the hotel, he also rented villas and around ten hectares of land.
The presentation of the project for the new hotel “Durmitor” will be held on the 4th of May in Zabljak.
