The acting director of TOB, Darko Franovic, said that during the Labor Day holiday, visits by a large group of European dermatologists are expected, as well as students from the tourist and medical faculties in the region, as well as organized groups from all over Europe.
He said that the tourist offer in Budva grows year after year.
"The characteristic of last year and the announcement for the upcoming period is the construction of new hotel facilities, which Budva, regardless of being the leader in tourism in Montenegro, is still missing," said Franovic. Apart from the small, town-based, family hotels, there are several hotels with significant capacities under construction.
"This year, we expect a significant removal of the beach equipment from the beaches, in cooperation with the inspection services from Morsko dobro," said Franovic. He said that during the autumn and winter, the competent municipal authorities have refurbished and put into operation new parking lots, which represent a serious problem during the peak tourist season, and that the pedestrian path on the main Mediterranean street was refurbished. Franovic added that arranging the walkway from Zeta film to the hotel Mogren is in its final stage, and they are preparing the hiking trails in the hinterland of Budvanska Riviera, and are setting up small outdoor gyms in Petrovac, Rafailovići and Budva.
"We are planning, in cooperation with the public institution City Theater, that we will also set up new theater stands between the churches in the Old Town and increase the capacities for the audience," said Franovic. He said that all institutions and competent services are working to improve the quality of the destination, which, he is convinced, the tourists will notice this year. Franovic said they are currently working on resolving acute problems, such as removing landfills along the primary and secondary roads, asphalting the towns and suburban streets, and cleaning beaches and green areas.
"Regardless of the efforts by all subjects, there are certain obvious problems such as the lack of parking spaces in the peak tourist season," said Franovic.
He said they hoped that the traffic route Cetinje – Budva will be opened entirely soon, which is of utmost importance. The expansion of the highway in the direction of the Tivat airport needs to be solved urgently, but they also need to think about new beaches, aqua-parks and swimming pools.
"Our coast, no matter how beautiful and spacious it is in the area of the Budva Riviera, is not big enough to accommodate so many guests staying in the Municipality of Budva during July, August, and even September," said Franovic. He also said that a Committee was established to deal with the issue of temporary locations, which has been present in Budva for decades, but due to the blocking performance of the local parliament, they are still unable to adopt the plan.
"It will certainly be revised compared to last year, and this trend has to continue in the next planning of the area, which is a valuable, gold worthy asset," concluded Franovic.
