Mirella-Marie ‘Katarina’ Radman is a screenwriter, blogger, and investigative journalist. She was born in Yugoslavia in 1973 and has lived in Croatia, Canada, Belgium and the United States. She studied at the University of Toronto (Victoria College) where she earned a B.A. (1996) in History and Political Science, with a Minor in Comparative English Literature and later completed an M.A. in International Relations and Political Economy (1998) at the same university. From 2002 - 2006 she was a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard University where she completed a Ph.D. in International Relations and Journalism (Communications). She is a specialist in Russian and Eastern European Studies, The Cold War, and International Security in the US, Europe and the Middle East.
She has worked for The Globe and Mail, The Boston Consulting Group, and NATO as a senior consultant, advisor, and portfolio manager, with a focus on defense, democratization, and NATO’s shifting organizational strategy from the bi-polar world of the past to the international war on terror. In addition to her academic areas of expertise, Katarina is also a blogger (www.mirellamarieradman.com), a journalist with The Globe and Mail (Canada), and a columnist for The Dubrovnik Times (Croatia).
She has written and co-edited numerous film scripts and is currently in the process of scripting documentary shorts and pilot projects for HBO and Netflix.
Katarina splits her time between Toronto, Canada and her beloved hometown of Split, Croatia. She is fluent in English, German, French, Italian, Croatian and Serbian and is currently learning Icelandic. When not blogging from the set of Game of Thrones in Dubrovnik, Katarina enjoys equestrian show-jumping, hiking, yoga, sailing, traveling, painting, cooking, photography, archery, the silent and noble art of the mushroom hunt, and all things pertaining to Croatia, Montenegro and Iceland. After various failed attempts at becoming the Chief Croatian Daenerys, Katarina is content in lending her voice and pen in crafting the compelling Croatian news stories that need to be told. She is a brand baker, comm artist and mother of Dalmatian dragons (geckos).
